  • What can I expect from a summer internship with Dixon Wilson?

    You will gain practical work experience and a deeper understanding of the accountancy profession to find out if a career in accountancy is for you. You will be given responsibility from day one across a range of accountancy and tax work. Working in a nurturing team environment you will learn new skills and develop existing ones. Managers are on hand to guide and support you. You will also be assigned a buddy that will help you get to know our ways of working. There will be opportunities to get to know colleagues at all levels across the Firm. Our active social committee delivers a wide range of social events from netball, cricket and tennis to chess and puppy yoga. Enjoy the journey.

  • How long does the summer internship last?

    Our Summer Internship Programme lasts between eight to ten weeks between July and September.

  • Are there minimum academic requirements to join the Dixon Wilson Summer Internship Programme?

    Our Summer Internship Programme is for undergraduate students in their second or penultimate year at university. You will need to have achieved a minimum of 120 UCAS points (300 points under the old UCAS system) and be averaging at least a 2:1 in your chosen degree to apply.

  • What are Dixon Wilson looking for?

    Aside from our minimum academic requirements we look for interns who want to learn, are curious and enjoy problem solving; are adaptable when exposed to new situations and scenarios; enjoy working with others, and have the aptitude to deliver a first-class professional service to our clients.

    Other requirements include:

    • A genuine interest in pursuing a career in Accountancy
    • The ability to learn quickly
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • A high level of self-motivation and commitment
    • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office and in Excel and Word in particular.

  • When and how do I apply?

    Applications for our Summer Internship Programme open in March each year. Our internship starts in July of the same year.

  • What is the application process?

    Our application process is in 4 stages:

    Stage 1: Online application form. You’ll start the application process by completing our online application form.

    Stage 2: Online Assessments. If you are shortlisted and have met our academic requirements you will be invited to take an initial numerical reasoning test (NRT). Upon successful completion, you will be invited to sit a verbal reasoning test (VRT) and a critical reasoning test (CRT).

    Stage 3: HR Interview. Candidates who successfully complete our assessments will be contacted and invited to an interview by one of our HR team. The interview, conducted by one of our HR team, will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams. It will take approximately 45 minutes and will explore your interest in accountancy. We will also ask you some competency based interview questions. You will have the opportunity to ask questions as well, so please do! This is a chance for you to learn more about our summer internship programme.

    Stage 4: Final Interview. You may be invited back to our final stage interview. This is in person at our offices, where you will meet one of our managers.

    If you are successful one of our HR team will contact you with an offer to join us in July.

    Support needed?
